Course overview

There is increasing recognition that the success of a healthcare organisation is not dependent on one heroic leader, but the leadership efforts of the whole team.  This one day course is for both informal leaders, people without explicitly assigned leadership roles, and people who are new to people management. Course content includes:

  • Exploring the extent of the leadership phenomenon in healthcare
  • Well-led organisations and organisational effectiveness
  • Different views on what is leadership and management
  • Leadership and power
  • Ethical leadership
  • Theories of what makes a successful leader
  • Shared leadership

At the end of the course it is expected that you will recognise your leadership role and the role of others, and be able to draw on a range of techniques to develop yourself as a leader.
