Employer engagement events

Connecting students with a wide and diverse portfolio of employer partners.

Every year, the Employer Engagement team run several extra-curricular events that aim to develop the employability skills of our students, support their career planning and ultimately contribute to their successful transition into the graduate labour market.

We are keen to partner with employers from across all sectors to develop sustainable and long-lasting strategic partnerships.

Find out below what is happening this year and how to contact us for an initial conversation.

City’s Annual Careers Fair

  • Date: Wednesday, 11 October 2023

Our autumn careers fair aims to connect large, multinational organisations with students across all schools and programmes at City, University of London.

If you are keen to meet students from programmes, please let us know via the booking form, and our marketing team will ensure the organisation and opportunities are advertised directly to those students.

Over 70% of City students identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME).

The Fair provides direct access to our talented students, who will also undergo a preparation session in advance and we encourage diverse representation from participating organisations as well as openly discussing company initiatives that support diverse staff.

Please register your interest by contacting careersevents@city.ac.uk or if you have any queries relating to this event.

Speed Recruitment

  • Date: Throughout early 2024
  • Time: 6 - 8:30pm

Our Speed Recruitment events are an opportunity for employers seeking to recruit final year talent into their business. Mirroring speed networking, the events provide businesses the chance to engage directly with students in rotations lasting for 5 minutes. To qualify for a speed recruitment session, businesses must:

  • Have live opportunities for final year students
  • Be able to provide a live job description that can be shared with student applicants
  • Be willing to offer students a tangible outcome if a good impression is made.

As part of Speed Recruitment, Employer Engagement will

  • Collect expressions of interests and CVs from students for your roles
  • Create candidate packs and share them with you prior to the evening, allowing you to attend with a deeper understanding of who you will be meeting
  • Prepare the students for the speed interviews via a specially created preparation session.

The dates and subjects proposed for Speed Recruitment are:

  • Finance and Economics: 27 February 2024, 6 - 8:30pm
  • Law and Social Sciences: 12 March 2024, 6 - 8:30pm
  • Technology: 26 March 2024, 6 - 8:30pm

Please note that each speed recruitment event is limited to 6 businesses and so early bookings are recommended.
