With our continued emphasis to support our BAME students, our fair will offer the opportunity for three organisation to discuss initiatives implemented at your businesses that aims to directly support attracting and retaining BAME talent within the organisation. The aim of this session is to raise awareness directly with our students about how they will be supported once they arrive at the organisation as a graduate.

In addition, there will be an opportunity for one of our exhibitors to deliver a practical workshop on the day of the fair, prior to it commencing. This should be immersive and have a tangible outcome.

We will also invite all exhibitors to submit a commercial awareness questions directed to our students. We will encourage all students to answer the question and share their responses and details with you on the premise that the students the most commercially savvy students are contacted directly to discuss opportunities.

The Fair is an opportunity for students to meet lots of companies within just a couple of hours. Students will be able to speak with both HR representatives, who can go into detail about the company's application and selection processes, as well as graduate trainees who have only been with the company for 1-2 years.

These graduate trainees can talk to students more about their personal experience when applying as well as their role duties.

Industry Insights

Industry Insights

February-April 2023

Free to participate

Held throughout term two and open to large, multinational organisations, Industry Insights aims to provide students an immersive experience within the office of our employer host. In addition to giving students exposure to a professional environment, the Industry Insights aims to give City students the opportunity to explore industry and sectors, learn more about the working culture and understand the breadth of opportunities available to them.

This initiative has a particular emphasis on engaging and providing experiences to our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students and all sessions should showcase the work that the organisation does to attract and retain diverse talent within the workplace.

With no cost attached the sessions usually last a half day from 9-12:30 or from 12:30 to 5 and we request that all Industry Insights have dedicated time built into the programme to showcase initiatives that attract and support diverse talent in the workplace.

Industry Insights hosts have included KPMG, Red Row, Bloomberg and Lloyds Banking Group.

Please contact industryinsights@city.ac.uk if you’d like more information or to get involved.

Meet the Recruiter

Mirroring the success of the one-to-one appointments between recruiters and students, our Meet the Recruiter series aims to provide a private space for students and recruiters to discuss opportunities within the business in a short, 10-15 minute slot, pre-booked by the student.

Please note: These appointments will take place online.

Through these appointments we hope that recruiters are able to identify talent that could potentially feed into their talent pipeline and our students can learn more about the opportunities within the organisation and the processes required to apply and be successful. All students will go through a preparation session to ensure that they and our employer host makes the most of the session.

Currently a pilot aimed at students from within The City’ Law School, this initiative is free and will be held on 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st October 2022.

If you would like more information on our Meet the Recruiter series, please contact Thomas.rockingham@city.ac.uk.
