My Home Life: Care Home ‘Check-in and Chat’ (Online) Course overview
Working in care homes can be incredibly emotionally and physically draining at the best of times. The pandemic is placing significant pressure on us all.
My Home Life has a proven track record supporting care home practitioners to ‘take a breath’, to gain strength and share ideas with peers.
Supported by highly experienced professional facilitators, these are confidential groups where you can share your experiences or if you want, just listen to others. For many, these groups create a new source of support which can last into the future.
Who is it for?
Anyone working in a care home setting wanting to develop themselves and lead beneficial change within their workplace.
We are inviting you to join a small group that will meet ‘virtually’ (via Zoom) for 90 minutes every fortnight during the crisis (7 times in total).
The service has a cost but is being delivered free of charge in some areas. We ask for commitment to attend each sessions or at least the first part of the session. The success of the group relies upon this.
What will I learn?
Learning depends on the way discussion is led by the colleagues in each group but outcomes may include
- Improving your resilience and avoiding burn-out
- Improving you and your fellow staff’s wellbeing as well as the wellbeing and quality of life of your residents and their families
- Enhancing your relationships with external agencies
- Developing a calmer environment to live and work in.
Assessment and certificates
Each session will be a group discussion where you will share knowledge, expertise and ideas with your fellow care sector workers. The sessions are facilitated by experienced professionals who will ensure that the conversation helps to grow your knowledge and develop your skill while allowing the flexibility to discuss areas that are of interest to you and your peers.
There is no assessment. You will receive a certificate of learning from City, University of London’s My Home Life England Programme.
