City is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion as detailed in its strategy launched in 2020.
As part of this commitment the School of Science and Technology uses the Athena SWAN charter framework to progress gender equality for all.
The charter was established by Advance HE in 2005. You can read more about the charter on the Advance HE website.
The school was awarded a Bronze award in 2019 in recognition of its commitment to improve gender equality.

An area to for the school to analyse next is any gender imbalances between permanent and funding-dependent roles.
The school will next renew their award in 2024.
