City recognises the value of self-organised groups in creating an environment that respects the diversity of staff and enables them to derive maximum benefit and enjoyment from their involvement in the life of City.
City's staff networks fulfil a number of roles including providing peer support and a forum for social interaction, and raising awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Acting as a consultative body for City, the networks collaborate on the shaping of policies and activities and also assist City in meeting its statutory obligations under the Equality Act 2010.
City's staff affinity networks meet and organise a range of events throughout the year.
CityUniWomen
CityUniWomen is open to professional and academic staff from all Schools and Professional Service Units.
The role of the network is to:
- Provide a forum where members can share their experiences, learn from and empower each other
- Celebrate the success of our members and create meaningful connections across the University
- Encourage members to realise their potential within City and beyond; making active and informed choices
- Hold regular events that facilitate the aims of the network and the interests of the members
- Become a representative voice for women at City through consultation on University policies and working with the Gender Equality Working Group (GEWG) and other affinity groups.
The Disability Staff Network
The Disability Staff Network meets regularly to create a friendly staff group for disabled staff, staff with a long-term health condition, staff who care for disabled dependents and staff with an interest in disability.
The role of the network is to:
- provide an opportunity to exchange information and ideas
- raise awareness about disability issues including the environmental, behavioural and institutional barriers experienced by a range of people with physical, cognitive and mental health conditions
- provide a confidential and safe space in which to discuss these issues.
This network has been instrumental in encouraging the University to sign up to:
- Time to Change seeking to end mental health stigma and discrimination.
- Disability Confidence Scheme: committed to good practice with regards to the recruitment, employment, retention and career development of people with a disability.

The Family and Carers Exchange Network
The Family and Carers Exchange Network is starting a conversation at City about the issues facing these groups with a view to achieving positive change and raising awareness of City's policies that support families and carers.
The current priorities of the network include but are not limited to;
- Reviewing and implementing leave related policies and support
- Promoting the flexible working policy
- Exploring options for childcare provision
- Creating support networks for parents and carers.

The LGBTQI+ Network
The LGBTQI+ network at City, University of London is here to raise the visibility of the LGBTQI+ community. It enables the group to meet regularly on matters to promote inclusivity and greater understanding and awareness of diversity here at City.
The group holds events during the year that promote greater awareness of who we are as a community.
We see our purpose as:
- A forum for networking and peer support between City LGBTQI+ Staff and other universities and external agencies.
- A forum that engages with City to support change through inclusivity and collaboration with other colleagues and areas within the university.
- To raise awareness within the City community of LGBTQI+ issues and liaising with staff and the Student Union and student societies to share information.
- Collaborating with City to shape its policy and procedures on matters related to LGBTQI+ staff.

The Network for Racial Justice
The Network for Racial Justice
The Network for Racial Justice (NRJ) is a staff affinity group for People of Colour (PoC) at City. The NRJ aims to bring together PoC staff members – both professional and academic – who feel passionate about racial justice and want to see a truly inclusive environment at City.
The role of the network is to:
- Support PoC staff
- Enable PoC staff to feel that they are valued and have a vital role within City
- Identify, discuss and raise awareness of issues affecting PoC staff and students with key decision makers
- Collaborate with university leadership to drive change
- Hold university leadership to account
- Raise the profile of the Network through events
- Provide a forum where staff can network and share opportunities
- Provide a safe space where staff can raise their concerns in a confidential environment
- Provide an opportunity for staff to update each other on local and national policy developments.

Religion and Belief
Religion and Belief
Religion and Belief is represented at City, University of London through the presence of a Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team, through the Student Faith Societies representing many of the world faiths and through provision of space for prayer and reflection.
The Chaplaincy Team is on hand to provide general spiritual/pastoral support as well as faith-specific support. The team can also advise and work with other networks as the need arises. The Chaplains have an open door policy and are available to all staff and students regardless of belief.

- Staff prayer and bible study
- Chaplaincy drop-In
- Jummah (Muslim Friday prayers)
- Termly events are held to mark major faith festivals.
