Aviation Crisis Management Course overview
This core module of the MSc Air Safety Management course has been designed for current and future aviation professional intending to carry out Operational management duties.
It will establish an understanding that leadership and management of people and resources is essential for a successful return from a crisis to normal operations and maintenance of company reputation and market share.
The learning is face-to-face with an experienced aviation crisis manager. Study focuses on case studies and the practical aspects of organization and resource management.

Airline and airport middle management preparing for future senior roles.

- Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th May 2024
- 9am - 5pm Thursday and Friday, 9am - 1pm on Saturday
- Classroom based.

What will I learn?
This module will enable you to:
- Understand Aviation Crisis Management and be able to apply these principles in the event of a mass fatality incident
- Identify the importance of integrating Crisis Management processes to maintain the business model of the organisation after a major accident
- Identify and apply the key Crisis Management practices to support the recovery of the business.

- Crisis Management legislation and victim expectations
- Documentation and structure of the crisis plan
- Facilities required to provide Humanitarian Care
- Leadership in a Crisis
- Recruitment, selection, and training of care teams
- Expectations and liaison with third party stakeholders
- Practical contemporary crisis case studies
- The need for rehearsal and exercising of the crisis plan.
Assessment and certificates
Teaching is classroom face-to-face, encouraging debate.
Some advance reading is beneficial but not essential (a full reading list is provided 2 months ahead of the course).
There is no assessment or coursework with this CPD. Students will be asked to submit a reflective journal about the topics covered and will receive a certificate of participation.

Eligibility
Prior subject knowledge is not required. General knowledge of airline or airport operations would be very useful.
English requirements
You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enrol on this course.
