If you do not qualify for direct entry to City's courses, other pathways to studying with us may be available to you through preparatory programmes.
Access through preparatory courses is available either through City's own foundation programmes or through international preparatory programmes with our partners.
We offer pathway routes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Foundation courses at City
As with entry to our full-time undergraduate degrees, all applications for City's foundation courses should be made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

International preparatory programmes
As well as City's own foundation courses, we have several successful partnership arrangements that offer preparatory courses if you are an international student looking for a route into undergraduate study with us.
These courses offer guaranteed entry to a specific degree at City, provided that you achieve the grades required.
Our partner colleges and centres are close to City and as a student enrolled on their courses, you will have the benefit of full membership of City, University of London and access to a range of student services.
INTO City, University of London
Together with INTO University Partnerships, City has established a purpose-built study centre near to Liverpool Street Station in the heart of London's financial district. As a student enrolling at INTO City, you are effectively a City, University of London student and have full access to our facilities.
Combining academic study with English language support, the courses at INTO City are validated by City, which provides assurance of the quality and standards of education.
INTO City embody our strengths in employability, so you will build key employability skills and engage directly with industry through masterclasses, workshops and networking events as an integrated part of your course.
Students who complete their INTO City course and meet the progression requirements are guaranteed a place on their chosen degree at City, University of London.
The International Foundation Programme prepares students for undergraduate level study at City. The pathways available are:
- Actuarial Science
- Business and Economics with Accounting
- Computing, Science and Engineering
- Humanities and Law.
The International Graduate Diploma prepares students for postgraduate level study at City. The pathways available are:
INTO City also deliver pre-sessional English courses for students who require English language support before starting a degree programme at City.
Kaplan International College London
Kaplan International College (KIC) London provides pathway preparation courses for international students, which lead to both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at City, University of London. Progression to City is guaranteed if you complete your KIC London course at the required level with good attendance.
KIC London offers fantastic teaching, support and facilities, plus a great location in the popular South Bank area of the city, close to many leading attractions. Its pathway courses equip you with the English language level, academic skills and key subject knowledge needed for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at City.
All this means that Kaplan students achieve excellent outcomes on their pathway courses, and can start their City degrees with confidence.
The Foundation Certificate offers entry to year 1 of a wide range of undergraduate degrees at City. It’s available in the following subjects:

The Pre-Master's leads to a broad set of postgraduate degrees at City. It's offered in two subject areas:

Other international pathway programmes
Preparatory courses from other institutions, including David Game College, Bellerbys Colleges, CATS Colleges and Kings Colleges, are considered on a case-by-case basis.
