Specific queries
Replacement transcripts
For a replacement or duplicate copy of your transcripts, please contact the issuing School. Please note, there may be a charge for each duplicate.
Normally transcripts are prepared within 10 working days from the receipt of the application, but it can be longer during busy periods (especially during exam periods and the start of the autumn term).
For students who graduated prior to 2001 (and especially those pre-1984), it can take much longer as many may only be available as paper records. It is therefore a good idea to order your transcripts as early as possible to ensure they are ready in time for any deadlines.
Replacement certificates
Replacement Certificates
We do not keep copies of certificates (digital or hard copy), but if you do need a Replacement Certificate, we can produce one for you.
Please note that only one hard copy of your certificate can be in existence at any one time, and a replacement will only be issued in the event that the original certificate has been lost, stolen or destroyed.
Order a Replacement Certificate on our e-store
Please note that a charge of £40 applies for a Replacement Certificate.
We aim to post Replacement Certificates within 10 working days of receipt of your request. If you choose to have your Replacement Certificate posted, please be aware that all certificates are sent using a standard (first-class) Royal Mail postal service - both in the UK and overseas. There is no tracking information available.
You should note that this certificate is not a transcript; if you need a transcript, you should contact your School Office. Please note that historical requests for transcripts prior to 2004 may take up to two months to process.
If you are requesting a certificate for a module you completed as part of your studies at the School of Health Sciences, you should contact your department directly.
Certifying a copy of your certificate
We can authenticate photocopies of certificates for you.
Please complete the certified certificate request form and upload a PDF copy of your original certificate. We will then stamp it to confirm that it is a true copy of an original document and sign it on behalf of the Academic Registrar/Student Records Manager.
There is no charge for this service.
Verify Student Qualifications
Third party degree verification
City, University of London has partnered with the Hedd (Higher Education Degree Datacheck) online verification service for all 3rd party degree verification requests for student and alumni verifications.
The online candidate verification service allows registered enquirers to input data provided by applicants (name, date of birth, institution, year of graduation, qualification classification etc).
The system can only be used by 3rd parties. Students can receive a letter confirming their student status via the Student Hub.
Further information can be found on our Degree certificates and verification of qualifications page on the Student Hub.
