Leadership in Long Term Conditions Masterclass Course overview
This course teaches you to select and apply effective nurse-led approaches for the management of various long-term conditions.
The themes of leadership, collaborative working, quality, governance and accountability are embedded within the programme design to develop participant’s abilities as leaders and innovators in chronic disease management.
Underpinning each taught session will be a strong emphasis on guidelines, evidence and research that informs and underpins clinical practice.

This course is for registered nurses wishing to develop their leadership skills in the management of people with long-term conditions in primary or community care settings

This course runs as five full days on a Thursday.

Assessment and certificates
Teaching
Each of the taught sessions will include a range of teaching and learning strategies designed to ensure that the learning needs of all participants are met, and will include lectures, workshops, scenarios (group work) and case studies.
Assessment
There is no formal assessment attached to this course, and no academic credits are available upon completion (though a certificate of attendance will be provided). Attendees have the option of enrolling for a work-based module alongside attending the Masterclass, which provides 15 academic credits at either Level 6 or 7 upon submission of a formal report on a work-based project.
Eligibility
You must be a registered nurse currently on the NMC register.
English requirements
If your first language is not English, one of the following is required:
- A first degree from a UK university
- A first degree from an overseas institution recognised by City, University of London as providing adequate evidence of proficiency in the English language, for example, from institutions from Australia, Canada or the United States of America.
- International English Language Test Service (IELTS) a score of 7.0 is required with no subtest below 7.0
- Pearson Test of English (Academic) score 72 required
- TOEFL 100 overall with 24 in Writing, 20 in Listening, 19 Reading and 20 Speaking
- Other evidence of proficiency in the English language, which satisfies the board of studies concerned, including registration with your professional regulator.
