How to be an evidence based optometrist Short Courses
In recent decades, evidence-based practice (EBP) has become a core part of medicine and most allied health disciplines. This one-day course will provide an overview of EBP and its relevance to optometry as well as workshops on the processes involved in evidence-based clinical decision-making. The aim of the course is to give you the foundation skills and knowledge needed to be an evidence-based practitioner.

What will I learn?
You will learn about EBP as a concept (what it is and its significance to optometry), and how to apply it, including how to gauge the reliability of evidence.
Teaching and Assessment
The course is face to face, and includes a mix of tutorials and workshops. To encourage active learning, you will be working within small groups and as part of the whole group (outcome of discussions within each small group will be shared). Within your group, you will be discussing points and questions raised by the facilitators, and you will be appraising evidence related to given clinical scenarios
You will be provided with papers to read prior to the course, and workshop activity will be based in part on these papers.
Peer review GOC CET points will be applied for.
