My name is Vivian Venizelou, I live in London and I come from Athens, Greece. I am a postgraduate student at City, University of London, pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) in Maritime Law.
Why did you choose to study for a Master of Laws (LLM)?
Straight after graduating from University of Piraeus, in MSc Maritime Studies, I worked in the shipping industry in Greece and UK for some years. My experience helped me realise that I needed to broaden my knowledge on the maritime industry by pursuing my studies on the maritime and international law field.
Why did you choose City, University of London and The City Law School?
City, University of London, is a university with a high academic and professional reputation in the field of maritime law, located in the heart of London. By choosing City, I was sure and confident that I would be able to learn the highest level of academic teaching. Furthermore, The City Law School, has academic experts who create the perfect environment for students to improve their performance. So, my choice was easy!
Which modules did you choose and why?
I chose the following four modules:
- Admiralty Law
- Carriage of Goods by Sea,
- Marine Insurance
- International Law of the Sea
I chose those modules, because they were totally related to the maritime industry.
What advice or tips would you give to anyone who wants to study for a LLM?
My advice is to enjoy every single moment of this academic experience.
What are your future plans/current job role?
I am already working in the shipping industry. However, I am sure the knowledge I gained from the LLM in Maritime Law, will add value to my career.
