Mathematics BSc (Hons)

Without doubt, the Career Service developed me as a person, whilst also offering a chance to network with professionals

Graduation date: 2014

What type of careers guidance did you come in for?

CV check and Cover Letter checks, Mock Interviews

Do you think the careers guidance or mock interview helped you with your application / interview?

Over the course of my degree, I have regularly used the Careers Service. I find it a useful resource, whether it's checking my CV, receiving feedback for a cover letter, or even discussing interview technique. They have a range of approachable consultants (all from different backgrounds) ready to aid and develop you. Through the Careers Service, I was able to experience Snapshot, a work shadowing programme which offered insights into different industries. Without this, I would have never clarified that Insurance was the career I wanted to pursue! Most recently, I applied for the MSc Insurance and Risk Management course at Cass and the Careers Service offered invaluable feedback throughout the application process. I've also been involved with the Professional Mentoring scheme, employer-led talks, careers fairs, as well as mock assessment centres.

What advice do you have for other students?

Without doubt, each event developed me as a person, whilst also offering a chance to network with professionals. I would recommend every student to start using the Careers Service right away!
