Student profile: Fahema Sultana

What course are you on?

Bsc Psychology (second year)

Where are you from?

London

What is the best thing about studying in London?

Great places to shop, socialise and have fun all nearby. And the Tube provides easy access all around London in little time!

Why did you choose your course?

I have always been interested in the concept of Psychology since A-levels, and wanted to further my knowledge on the different aspects of the subject.

Why did you choose to study it at City?

After much research, I had found that City's employment rates after graduation were very high which attracted me to choose it, as it not only provided me with a high standard of education, but also better chances of employment for the future.

What's your favourite topic within your study area?

Developmental Psychology is probably the most interesting module in my opinion. This is because it focuses on the development on children throughout the life cycle including before birth. It provides a great insight into learning about children and the individual differences in development process that we all have had.

If you could give one bit of advice to a prospective City student, what would it be?

Be organised. The most important thing on a course like Psychology is time management. Organising your time efficiently will stop work from piling up and keep you on top of the several deadlines you will receive throughout the year. Keeping up with the workload can be stressful but keeping on track of the deadlines will help you balance uni, work and a social life efficiently.

What are your plans after graduating from City?

To become an educational psychologist within secondary schools, or work with children with learning difficulties.

What are your interests outside of your course?

I am a shopping addict. All my spare time is taken up by shopping!
