Civil Engineering at City

Civil Engineering courses at City are designed to help engineering professionals gain a world-class academic postgraduate degree providing them with the essential skills and knowledge required to further their career in today's construction and civil engineering industry.

All of our civil engineering programmes are delivered both full-time (12 months) and part-time (24 - 28 months) at our campus in central London.

We offer two degrees, each designed in collaboration with industry and approved by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) to make your degree relevant, recognised and rewarding. The Joint Board of Moderators is comprised of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Institute of Highway Engineers – representing over 100,000 of the world's leading professional engineers.

If you are working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng), you will be pleased to know that each of our civil engineering programmes is accredited as meeting the requirements for further learning for CEng status.

Civil Engineering Structures MSc

Ideal for professional engineers and recent engineering graduates seeking to specialise in structural engineering. Core modules cover structural analysis, dynamics and stability, finite element methods, reliability and risk, and the design of concrete, steel and composite structures.

Temporary Works and Construction Method Engineering MSc

Ideal for professional engineers, construction professionals and recent engineering graduates seeking to specialise in the design and construction of temporary works. Core modules cover temporary works structures, management and statutory obligations, geotechnical temporary works, demolition and alteration, machinery and access, groundwater control and marine construction.
