About
Overview
Dr Manolesos holds a Mechanical Engineering degree (2004) from the University of Patras, Greece and an MSc in Race Car Aerodynamics from the University of Southampton (2006). He obtained his PhD thesis from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (2013). Since 2020, he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, after completing a two-year Postgraduate Certificate Teaching in Higher Education at Swansea University.
He has worked for Red Bull Racing and Renault F1, as well as as a Wind Energy consultant. Before he joined City he was a Senior Lecturer at Swansea University, where he holds an honorary placement as Senior Lecturer. He has also worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the National Technical University of Athens.
His research interests include separated flows and separation control, drag reduction and flatback airfoils, wind and tidal turbine aerodynamics and aeroelasticity, aeroacoustics and atmospheric boundary layer flows. He likes to use both experimental and numerical tools in a complementary manner, combining the strengths of the two approaches.
