What type of careers guidance did you come in for?

Career coaching and guidance

Do you think the careers guidance or mock interview helped you with your application / interview?

I have used the services of the careers consultants several times. The main discussion point was what career paths I could follow because I learnt early on that I did not want to pursue a career in law after getting my degree in the subject. I learnt was that you are not restricted to pursuing a career in the subject of your degree. I was made to feel much more comfortable about not knowing what career path I wanted to follow and always left the meetings excited about researching the different paths we discussed. The career consultants were very friendly and understanding, which really helped me open up about my fears about finding the right career path. It was evident in all of the meetings I had with them that they were experts in career guidance.

What advice do you have for other students?

The Careers Service is one of the most important elements to a university. University is all about exploring, and that includes what is out there after you complete your degree. By going to the Careers Service, I believe that one is able to become aware of just how many opportunities and variety there is out there.
