City, University of London ranked highly in multiple subject areas in the Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings 2024.
Key subject areas including law, business and economics and psychology ranked in the top 150 worldwide.

The THE rankings have been running since 2004 and analyse teaching, the learning environment, and the research quality of over 1,000 higher education institutions across the world to help prospective students make decisions on where to study.

Subject areas are ranked from one up to 100, and any rankings above 100 are then grouped within clusters of universities.

Ranking highlights

The rankings rewarded City’s broad range of expertise, ranking the University in 7 subject areas. Some of the key results were:

  • The subject areas of Business & Economics – which includes courses taught by Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) and the School of Policy & Global Affairs – entered the top 100 universities for the subject area worldwide, ranking 96th globally
  • Psychology was ranked in the top 150 globally, seeing a significant improvement from last year’s ranking in the 201-250 cluster
  • Law ranked within the top 125 globally
  • Social sciences were ranked within the 151-175 cluster
  • Studies in the areas of Clinical & Health – which includes medicine and other related health subjects – moved up one cluster of rankings to the 201-250 range
  • Engineering moved up a cluster of rankings to the 301-400 range.
