City, University of London is exploring the exciting opportunity of joining forces with St George’s, University of London to establish a new, multi-faculty, combined institution. This potential merger would bring together the respective strengths of both universities, creating the biggest educator of Londoners in the capital and a ‘health powerhouse’ for students and researchers.

With St George's reputation as a world-leading specialist health university and City's excellence in a range of disciplines including health, business, law, creativity, and communications, we envision a merger that will propel us to new heights and offer both students and staff exciting opportunities.

The future of human health needs targeted research, enhanced by a cross-disciplinary approach this partnership will facilitate. The combined university would contribute directly to meeting the crucial societal need for highly trained health and medical professionals, addressing the country’s future workforce challenges. This strategic partnership would place both institutions in a stronger and more resilient position, enabling us to succeed in a highly dynamic, and increasingly challenging, environment.

The proposed combination would create an institution that maintains each university’s individual history and legacy whilst establishing a new era of excellence in healthcare education and research. We will create space for innovation and ambition.

The Councils of each university will meet later this Summer to progress the proposal.
