Overview
Following the financial crisis of 2007-09, the regulatory framework was overhauled to reduce the fragility of the banking sector and adverse effects to other financial institutions and the real economy. Fifteen years later, the banking sector is yet again at the center of turmoil in the financial markets. New and old risks loom high. This workshop will cover the subject area of financial intermediation.
Topics covered during this workshop include:
- Inflation, rising interest rates and risks to banking sector and the real economy
- Fintech: opportunities and challenges to the banking sector
- Climate change and transition risk: opportunities and challenges to the banking sector
- Non-bank financial intermediation
