Hans Frankort invites you to join in the celebration of his appointment to Professor of Strategy. In this inaugural lecture, he will embark on a brief reflective journey and contemplate the path forward to shape a more effective and humane scholarly profession.
Frankort will begin by challenging himself: How could he have done better, and what should be the focus of his professorship in the years to come? Looking for answers, he goes back in time to his doctoral studies, yet also finds inspiration in his recent work. Next, informed by 18 years of participant observation, Frankort challenges others: How can the scholarly community of which he is a part do better? He imagines a community focused on ideas, learning, and understanding, as opposed to the exclusionary pursuit of individual prestige and power. The upshot will be scholarship that is not only more effective in its content but also more humane in its process.
