Ahmad Abou Merhi is the Executive Director and Head of Portfolio Management of Pelagic Partners. Pelagic Partners is an Alternative Investment Fund Manager with over US$ 400M in assets under management within the shipping industry. He is a second generation ship owner through his family-owned Abou Merhi Group, a diverse shipping group with a history of over 30 years. Ahmad was also involved in closing numerous high-calibre deals within the global shipping & offshore sector as a Strategic & Commercial Advisor at Société Générale.
Ahmad is currently pursuing a Ph.D. with focus on Alternative Investments & Private Equity at Bayes Business School London (formerly Cass). He also holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance and an MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from Bayes. His academic prowess earned him several awards and an exclusive invitation to join the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma Society, a recognition reserved for the best-performing business students from the world’s top business schools.

Three years ago Niklas has set up and since then successfully build up Arctic Securities’ first continental European branch in Hamburg, Germany which he is heading. Prior to joining Arctic, Niklas headed the Greek and Western European shipping desk at Berenberg maintaining relationships with more than 150 clients. During the past 11 years Niklas worked on several private and capital market transactions for shipping clients, most notably the USD 125 million unsecured bond issue for Diana Shipping, the acquisition and takeover of more than USD 1 billion in secondary shipping loans and the IPO of Hapag Lloyd.

Antonia Dineen is the Head of Maritime Environment Analysis in the Department for Transport. She has worked as an economist for the Civil Service for almost 10 years. She has spent the last four years covering multiple areas in Maritime analysis such as financial support during the Covid-19 response, and the investment case for R&D funding in the Maritime sector (UKSHORE). Prior to this, Antonia has covered a variety of transport roles including leading the economic analysis for the £25bn second Road Investment Strategy at National Highways and assessing the economic impact of airport expansion with Airports Commission.

As Global Market Lead for Methanol Chain, Stergios is responsible for advancing global coverage and thought leadership for the methanol value chain, further develop SPCI position, lead research into new markets and drive industry engagement. Stergios is the founder and chairperson of SPCI’s clean/alternative marine fuels working group. With his professional career in the energy and chemicals services sectors since 2013, Stergios is passionate about putting the right information together and turning it to business intelligence.
Stergios is also the President of the Greek Energy Forum. Previously served as committee member of Young Professionals Network of Energy Institute London brunch and also held senior and managerial roles with FC Business Intelligence Energy (currently Thompson Reuters Events) and Active Communications International, energy department.

Naema Bayati is an Italian qualified lawyer who, after 4 years’ experience at Linklaters and other international law firms, came to London to pursue her passion of a career in shipping. Naema took her MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance at Bayes Business School during 2021-2022, supported by the prestigious Matrona Michael Xylas Scholarship. Graduating with a distinction, she has since been working in the Legal Projects team at leading shipowner and pools operator Navig8 Group, while simultaneously pursuing qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales. Naema provides legal advice to support the core commercial operations of Navig8 (and its bunker trading arm Integr8), including chartering, sale & purchase and ship construction, and has enjoyed helping the Group develop its environmental strategy in the new regulatory landscape.
