Speakers: Catherine Hale, Founder and Director of Chronic Illness Inclusion and Dr Anna Ruddock, Writer and Founding Member of Chronic Illness Inclusion
The concepts of energy limiting chronic illness and energy impairment emerged from the Chronic Illness Inclusion Project (CIIP), a major programme of emancipatory disability research among the online chronic illness community.
The CIIP was part of the DRILL (Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning) Research programme of disabled-led research, funded by The National Lottery.
In this talk, Catherine and Anna share findings from the project and propose that the concepts of energy limiting chronic illness and energy impairment offer strategies for affirming identity, claiming rights, and promoting inclusion and visibility for a significant, overlooked, population of disabled people.
They will emphasise the urgency of this work by sharing the results of their survey looking at the impact of the policy response to the Covid-19 pandemic on people with energy limiting chronic illness.
