Rector's Dinner 2017
On Tuesday 4th April 2017 City, University of London held the annual Rector's Dinner.
More than 250 guests including staff, alumni, friends and supporters of City attended the event held in the Egyptian Hall in Mansion House, hosted by our Rector, The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley.
This year we were delighted to welcome Ms Clare Verga, Principal of City of London Academy Islington as our keynote guest, who spoke alongside President Professor Sir Paul Curran and Student Speaker Ms Sophia Kichou.
About the dinner
The Rector’s Dinner is the annual showcase of City, University of London. The event is held at The Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of the City of London and the Rector of the University.
The Dinner provides an opportunity for the University to share its news and achievements with its supporters and develop relationships with new individuals and organisations.
This year we are honoured to welcome Ms Clare Verga as the guest speaker.
About the speaker
Clare Verga has been Principal of the City of London Academy Islington since September 2012. Under her leadership, Clare led the Academy’s transformation from the most underperforming school in the local authority to the highest performing. Due to her work at the City of London Academy Islington, Clare received ‘Freedom of the City’ in 2015.
Clare has a breadth of leadership experience, with over twenty years’ practice as a senior leader in several schools across Surrey and London. Clare specialises in educational leadership and management and she is currently completing her MPhil in Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education, UCL.
Clare is a governor of New River College in Islington and is Chair of the college’s Teaching and Learning Management Committee. Clare is also a qualified Ofsted Inspector.
