Graduation Ceremonies July 2015
Graduation ceremonies held between 13 - 15 July 2015 at the Barbican recognised the achievements of more than 1,500 students. Joined by friends and relatives, undergraduate and postgraduate students from all of City's five Schools were awarded and three distinguished individuals received Honorary Degrees:
Mr Michael Smith OBE for his work in the field of global finance - "Success has many definitions, but it's important to work out what drives you, what's important to you and what you really like to do. You'll find you are more successful doing things you enjoy."
Eur Ing David Kent for his outstanding contribution to the field of measurement and control - "As a graduate of City, you'll go on to the next stage of your life with an education that is second to none and a 'can do' mentality, that will raise you to higher planes of ambition and achievement."
Professor Dame Jill Macleod Clark for her services to nursing - "As a nurse and healthcare professional you have chosen a career pathway with purpose and one that provides the potential to make a real difference to people's lives."
During the ceremonies, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Paul Curran addressed the congregation, along with Student Speakers Rabah Kherbane (LLB Law), Ralph Payne (BSc Business Studies), Kamilla Kristiansen (BSc Criminology and Sociology), Rachel Cunniffe (BMus Music), Roger Beecham (PhD Geographic Information Science) and Deepkiran Cheema (BSc Optometry & Visual Science). Here the Student Speakers tell us what they enjoyed most about their time at City and what they plan to do next.
Alumnus speaker Robert Legget also delivered a speech, sharing insights into his time at City and offering advice to the new graduates.
Graduation Ceremonies January 2015
Over 2,000 students celebrated their graduation from City in ceremonies held at the Barbican. Graduates were joined by their family and friends and four distinguished individuals who received honorary doctorates in recognition of outstanding contribution to their professions - Banker Mr Richard Gillingwater CBE; lawyer and economist Dr Anthony Papadimitriou; journalist Mrs Penny Marshall and senior judge His Honour Judge Brian John Barker CBE QC.
