Entry requirements

If you are thinking about studying in London, choosing City means benefitting from our central location, teaching quality and close links to business and the professions. We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and are consistently highly ranked for graduate starting salaries.

Entry requirements will vary from course to course and the information on this page is only intended to be a general guide. For individual course requirements, please refer to the course pages, or contact Rolf Jespersen.

Some qualifications from US high school system are accepted for direct entry. For information on specific course requirements, please email Rolf Jespersen.

We will consider applications from students offering one of the following qualifications

Three Advanced Placements with between 5,5,5 and 5,4,4
Three relevant SAT subject tests with 650 in each
We may be able to consider students who have completed one or two years of studies elsewhere on a case by case basis

In addition to this we would require SATR Critical Reading and Writing both at 500 or above (or another English language qualification)

International qualifications such as A level and IB are also accepted for direct entry, and details of grades requirements for these qualifications can be found on the course pages.

Applicants who don’t meet the requirements for direct entry would need to undertake a foundation programme first. Students successfully completing INTO City’s International Foundation Programme or Kaplan International College London’s Foundation Certificate at the required level will have guaranteed entry into City’s undergraduate degrees.

2021 Entry for IB students

In 2021 the Mathematics curriculum for the International Baccalaureate Diploma is changing.

After careful consideration, City will accept both the Mathematics: Analysis and approaches route and the Mathematics: Applications and interpretation route as equivalent to A-Level Mathematics for all of our undergraduate courses. This means where our courses required A level Mathematics equivalency, we will accept both of the available Higher Level routes within the International Baccalaureate.

Current IB requirements will be clearly stated on the individual course pages, but please contact us if you have any questions.

Applicants will be considered for most postgraduate courses with a good US bachelor’s degree from a recognised University. Entry requirements will vary by course for more information about specific course requirements please contact Rolf Jespersen.

Students who don’t meet the requirements for direct entry may opt to undertake a graduate preparation programme. Students successfully completing INTO City’s Graduate Diploma or Kaplan International College London’s Pre-Master’s Course at the required level will have guaranteed entry into City’s postgraduate degrees.

English language requirements

English language requirements will vary from course to course and the information on this page is only intended to be a general guide. For individual course requirements, please refer to the course pages, or contact Rolf Jespersen. For students requiring visas, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) is usually required. A full list of acceptable English Language qualifications can be found here.

Students who do not meet the English language requirements for their course may have the option to undertake our Pre-sessional English programme at INTO City prior to entry.
