The full course is made up of three 10-week modules – part 1, part 2 and part 3. Enrol on the full syllabus (parts 1-3) to gain a thorough understanding of Upper intermediate Japanese at the best price.

Lessons takes place once a week, ideal for those with various commitments or working full-time.

Our language short courses are taught by qualified native speakers. Gain a certificate from a prestigious London university.

Course overview

On commencing the course, you should be able to feel confident in joining conversations with friends and peers, be capable of reading brochures and emails. You will learn new structures and vocabulary around different topics to extend the range of expression in this highly communicative course.

The course aims to introduce you to 600 kanji  before the end of Module Three so at least two hours of homework per week is essential.

If you already have solid knowledge of JLPT N3, this course will push you to the next level working towards achieving JLPT N2*.

Is it the right level for me?

The Japanese Upper Intermediate (Year 5) course is ideal if you have completed the Japanese Intermediate (Year 4 ) course. You should be able to communicate at JLPT N3 level  to enrol on this course.

If you are new and want to join this course please contact Taka, our Japanese tutor on t.ogura@city.ac.uk so he can assess your level.

* Whether your goal is to sit the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, JLPT N2 or you simply wish to brush up on your Japanese skills, this course will prepare you to achieve that.
