Sakinah Drief

Careers Information Assistant

Sakinah graduated with a BSc (Hons) Psychology degree from the University of Hertfordshire. During her time at university, she completed a placement with the mental health charity; Mind, as a Receptionist and occasional Mental Health Support Worker. Upon graduating Sakinah worked for a prominent Housing Association as a Neighbourhood Services Administrator within their social housing division.

As a recent graduate herself, she appreciates the student life and how students may feel overwhelmed by their prospective career choice and planning. She hopes to empower students through assisting them with career-related queries and providing accurate information and resources so they can make better-informed career decisions. Sakinah understands each student and their respective career choice is unique and aims to provide information and advice tailored to their individual vision for the future.

Sakinah has always valued the importance of higher learning and has particularly enjoyed customer facing roles and student engagement. And so when she joined the Careers Service as an Information Assistant in February 2017, she was excited to combine one of her passions with a professional career. As part of her role, Sakinah is keen to remain abreast in the different career resources available to students, in order to aid their future career decisions and enhance their employability. Her role includes supporting student inquiries, managing careers appointment schedule, updating resources and events on CareersHub, supporting with editing and maintaining the careers website and promoting relevant print media to students; so they always have access to the most current resources and information. She also provides administrative and project-based support to careers staff with ongoing career related schemes. As well as managing student communications to keep students and recent alumni engaged with relevant opportunities and upcoming events.
