Speaker lineup announced for Dubai Maritime Law Conference 2019
Hosted by The City Law School and Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre, the event will be held on 25 September.
The City Law School (CLS), part of City, University of London and the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC), as part of UAE Maritime Week, are proud to host the second annual Dubai Maritime Law Conference at the DIFC Conference Centre on Wednesday, 25th September 2019.
Held under the theme Navigating Changes and Challenges in Global and Regional Shipping, the event will serve as a platform for legal practitioners and maritime experts to discuss a broad range of topics such as the impact of the UAE’s new maritime law, the practicalities of maritime arbitration in the Middle East, and new legal and market developments.
Professor Andrew Stockley, Dean of CLS will deliver the welcome address.
Professor Jason Chuah, Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law and Head of Department at CLS, will lead a training course titled Introduction to Ship Finance Law, following which attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance from City, University of London. Furthermore, those attending will be credited with four CLPD points.

The first edition of the conference in 2018 marked the launch of the Gulf region’s first Masters of Laws in Maritime Law (LLM), a part-time programme offered in collaboration between CLS and the DIFC Academy. The programme, which is delivered in Dubai, has been designed to enhance the careers of lawyers and working professionals across the maritime sector, such as ships’ officers, shipbrokers and claim handlers.
