City Mathematics academic receives EPSRC funding
Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Dr Olalla Castro-Alvaredo, has been awarded a research grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
The project is titled “Entanglement Measures, Twist Fields, and Partition Functions in Quantum Field Theory”.
Dr Castro-Alvaredo is Principal Investigator and Dr Benjamin Doyon, a Reader in Theoretical Physics at King's College London, is the project's Co-Investigator.
The total value of the award is £225k over the project’s three-year duration, which will also go towards funding scientific visits and conferences and the employment of a post-doctoral researcher.
Quantum field theory (QFT) is the theoretical framework for constructing quantum mechanical models of subatomic particles in particle physics and quasiparticles in condensed matter physics.
