Jaizzail Ofori is an alumnus of The City Law School’s LLB with Commercial Law (Hons), graduating in 2020.

Jaizzail has secured a major £30k scholarship for black students on the bar course with law set, 11KBW. This will support his return to City to pursue the Bar Vocational Studies (BVS) postgraduate taught degree course to follow his dream of becoming a commercial barrister.

He is also currently a Lord Denning Scholar with The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.

Commenting on his 11KBW Scholarship success, Jaizzail said:

I am incredibly honoured and grateful to have been awarded the 2024 11KBW Scholarship. This invaluable opportunity will enable me to pursue the Bar Vocational Studies course at City, University of London this year, providing both financial support and an essential pathway towards my ambition of becoming a commercial barrister.

"Last year, I was shortlisted for the 2023 11KBW Scholarship, but ultimately was not selected. I was incredibly disheartened after receiving rejection. The prospect of becoming a barrister slowly began to wane.

"However, I persevered, working as a Paralegal at the Serious Fraud Office and Fenwick Elliott LLP, to strengthen my legal skills and resolve. My persistence and hard work ultimately paid off.

"Don’t let rejection define your success. Faith, determination, and community will help you achieve your goal.

"I eagerly anticipate returning to City, an institution that I greatly admire for its commitment to excellence in education and its supportive learning environment. Known for its outstanding provision of the Bar Vocational Studies course, City will undoubtedly offer an enriching academic experience that aligns with my aspirations.

James Catchpole, Head of Department for the Professional Degree Programmes, The City Law School , said:
