Preparing for your viva submission and examination

Series: Good Practice in Research Week

Speaker: Richard Alderman

As part of Good Practice in Research Week’s day of PhD workshops for staff and PhD Students, this session will talk you through the City examination process for research degrees and the most common fears of students as their submission deadline approaches. Drawing on research, students’ experiences and reports from previous City PhD examiners, Richard Alderman will explain what you can do to put yourself in the best position for your upcoming viva examination.

Richard Alderman is City’s Assistant Registrar for Research Degrees, overseeing all the policies and regulations relating to City’s postgraduate research degree programmes. He works with the academic Schools to advise on University regulations, and coordinates central administration such as University induction events, external examiners for research degree viva examinations, conference funding and guidance for students.
