CANCELLED: Vonnegut Collective: Confronting Cardew
This event is now cancelled: apologies for any disappointment and inconvenience
A collaboration between composer-improvisors Cath Roberts (baritone sax), Anton Hunter (electric guitar), Gemma Bass (violin), Gary Farr (trumpet), Tullis Rennie (sound composition) and Cornelius Cardew (score). In this hour-long ‘happening’ we delve into the psyche of Cornelius Cardew, searching for his essence and motivations. Presenting process through performance, we ask what his musical legacy means to us, and to an audience, now.
The Vonnegut Collective is a chamber ensemble based in Manchester, UK. It was formed in 2014 by two members of the BBC Philharmonic with the aim of exploring new music and making it more relevant and accessible to all. Their carefully crafted recitals and education work facilitate creative music-making, story-telling and free expression through structured and improvised sound, giving everyone the chance to experience new music, their music, either made by them or for them.
