Speaker: Dr Paul Craig, Professor in English Law, University of Oxford

The importance of general principles of EU law is well recognized. There is nonetheless much that remains unclear concerning the Treaty origins of such principles, their emergence in the case law of the ECJ, and why certain judicial decisions were seminal in this respect. The paper will shed light on these issues and unpack the historical origins of this significant category of judicial review.
