Speaker: Professor N. Makris

Series: RCCES lectures

City's School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering's Research Centre for Civil Engineering Structures (RCCES) presents a lecture by Professor N. Makris, University of Central Florida on the dynamics of rocking isolation.

This lecture is the first to be organised jointly with the UK Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED).

The uplifting and rocking of slender, free-standing structures when subjected to ground shaking may limit appreciably the seismic moments and shears that develop at their base. Read more about the topic.

Professor Nicos Makris has more than 25 years of research, academic and professional experience in the areas of structural-earthquake engineering and applied mechanics-dynamics. Read more about Professor Makris.
