This event is part of The Social Movements and Civil Society Research Group, City University London (@SMCSRGCity)SMCSRG aims to offer a forum for ongoing dialogue and debate amongst scholars across schools who are engaged in studies related to questions of domestic and transnational activism, economic and social justice, social movement strategy and civil society.

A talk based on the book: Eve Sandberg and Kenza Aqertit, Moroccan Women, Activists and Gender Politics: An Institutional Analysis (Lanham, MD: Lexington Books/Rowman & Littlefield, 2014)

Using both feminist and institutionalist approaches, Sandberg and Aqertit explore how, in twenty–five years, Moroccan women activists altered their national gender institution to improve substantially the lives of all Moroccan women. Sandberg and Aqertit operationalize and offer an institutional template for studying change in national gender institutions that can be adopted by practitioners and scholars in other country settings.
