Synopsis of the Masterclass
Complementing the currency union with a banking union has been a hotly debated issue in Europe over the past two years. And despite many doubts, some progress has been made. This presentation will discuss what a banking union entails and the rationale behind it. Prof Beck will argue that the eurozone will not be a sustainable currency union without a banking union, but that the banking union will not help overcome the current crisis.
