The Conference is organised by Equality in Publishing (Equip), a membership organisation hosted by the Department of Creative Practice and Enterprise at City University London and funded by Arts Council England.

The Equip Conference will include presentations and panel discussions by publishing practitioners, expert bodies, analysts and scholars addressing the broad theme of how to develop the publishing workforce to meet the industry's current and future needs. The opening speech at the conference will be from the poet Dean Atta who will discuss his views on publishing. The conference will be the first public opportunity for Equip to present its research, including a survey to the publishing trade and Equip members.
