Everything you wanted to know about bookselling

We are delighted to invite you to a networking event about bookselling. The event will feature presentations from Tim Godfray, CEO of the Booksellers Association, Miriam Robinson of Foyles, Frances Tay, co-founder of Woolfson & Tay, and Jen Campbell, bookseller at the Ripping Yarns bookshop and author of Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops.

Guest speakers

Tim Godfray has been CEO of The Booksellers Association of the UK & Ireland since 1984, and during this time has seen phenomenal change in the world of books. Apart from being on the Board of the BA, his other directorships include being a Director of Book Tokens Ltd, of Batch.co.uk Ltd, a trustee of the charity World Book Day Ltd, and a member of the operating board of the European Booksellers Federation. Outside the book trade he is a director of the British Retail Consortium Ltd, the trade organization that represents almost all the leading retailers in the UK.

Miriam Robinson is the Head of Marketing at Foyles. She will be talking about Foyles' exciting plans to build a bookshop for the future.

Frances Tay is the co-founder of Woolfson & Tay - an independent bookshop and cafe soon to reopen at Bankside. Fran previously worked as a business development consultant. She graduated in Economics from Australian National University in 1993 and later completed her masters in Social Development at the University of Reading, where she received the Edoardo Virone Prize for her thesis on philanthropy and the changing nature of development aid.

Jen Campbell grew up in the north east of England, graduated from Edinburgh University, and now lives in London where she works at an antiquarian bookshop. She is the author of the bestselling Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops (Constable & Robinson), and the sequel More Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops will be published 18th April 2013. She is also a published poet and short story writer.
