This talk will explore the circumstances around the development of 'Good Vibrations', the prison education project involving the Javanese gamelan ensemble, which has been active in male and female prisons, young offenders' institutions and secure hospitals in England and Scotland since 2003. This case study will lead to a discussion of broader issues of ethnomusicology and the public sector.
