City of London Academy Islington enjoys another year of examination success
A great result for the local school supported by City, University of London
Another year of examination success was celebrated at the City of London Academy Islington following excellent GCSE examinations results.
Student progress is outstanding. 93% of students achieved A*-C in English and 68% of students achieved 5 A*-C passes including English and Mathematics. Exceptional performance was achieved in modern languages with 100% A*-C passes in German, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish and Italian and 96% A*-C passes in French.
Clare Verga, Principal at the City of London Academy Islington, said:
"I am absolutely delighted for our year 11 students, who today celebrated outstanding examination success. My congratulations go to the students, their families and to all the staff here at the Academy. These results reflect the aspiration, determination and hard work put in by all throughout this academic year and I am exceptionally proud of what we have all achieved together.”

“We are thrilled for our students - whose hard work has clearly paid off with an excellent set of results. I know that the Academy staff are tireless in their commitment towards our students and they too can take great credit in these results.”
Catherine McGuinness, Chairman of the Education Board at The City of London Corporation said: “We are very proud of how hard our students have worked, and we are delighted that this hard work has translated into tangible results which will enable them to pursue the further education opportunities and careers of their choice. We wish them well, and look forward to welcoming some of the students back to the Sixth Form in September.”
