The Philosophy, Knowledge, Skills and Evidence for Optimal Birth module is designed to strengthen compliance with the NICE 2014 intrapartum clinical guidelines. Facilitated by world-leading clinical researchers and practitioners (funded by the NIHR and other funding bodies) the module gives students the opportunity to learn new evidence and innovative techniques for promoting optimal birth.
The module is delivered via a range of techniques including practical workshops, discussion groups (face-to-face and online), lectures, simulation and role-play. Students have access to a range of learning spaces including City’s state-of-the-art Clinical Skills Centre, our specialsit Technology Enabled Care Studio City TECS, computer labs and classrooms.

On successful completion of this module students achieve 15 level 7 (post graduate) credits. This module is a core module on the Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care (Midwifery) MSc programme.
Non EEA students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.
For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:
