Dr Newton Armstrong, Lecturer in Composition at City, publishes solo piano work, plus forthcoming events
• by Dr Armstrong's solo piano work 'Too slow, for Milton' has been published as part of a memorial project for the late American composer Milton Babbitt.
The work is included in a special issue of Perspectives of New Music (Vol 49, no. 2, Spring 2012) and the OPEN SPACE magazine (Issue 14, Spring 2012).
A recording of the work, by long-time collaborator pianist Mark Knoop, appears on the set of four CDs that accompany the special issue.
EventsDr Armstrong will perform with Plus-Minus ensemble at the Borealis Festival (Bergen, Norway) on Friday 16 March. The concert will focus on the work of composers Nicolaus A. Huber and Johannes Kreidler.
The programme includes a new realisation of Huber's seminal 1971 composition Harakiri.
