Courses in media and communications provide an invaluable understanding of the expanding role of the media in contemporary society. Specialist courses taught by leading researchers encourage the critical study of various media - Including the broadcasting media, print media, film and new media technologies in both a national and global context. Conceptually the courses lean towards the proven strengths of sociological analysis of the media, but also include viewpoints from cultural studies and related research fields. They provide students with an in-depth sociological analysis of the changing roles of media and communications in today's information societies.
