Sameena is a 3rd year Child Nursing student. Before coming to City she was studying A Level Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City?
City was ranked as one of the best universities in London for my course.
Once you'd received offers from different universities how did you make your decision to choose City?
For me personally it was where placements would be for my course that appealed to me the most. Other universities that I had applied to required students to stay in the same trust for the duration of their placements at university. City however makes students rotate between trust therefore allowing students to learn different policies and procedures according to each hospital.
What kind of things are you involved in outside your course?
Outside of my course I am a Student Ambassador and regularly help out at Open Days and weekly campus tours.
Where have you undertaken placements?
I am required to undertake a certain number of clinical hours. Placements that I have had include Great Ormond Street Hospital and Homerton Hospital.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
After I graduate I plan on working on a children’s ward however I am still undecided as to what field I want to go into. My course however will allow me to decide as I get placements in different areas within children’s nursing.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Research around children’s nursing so you know what you’re getting in to. The shifts are long and can sometimes be challenging – but it’s all worth it in the end.
