The volume and variety of activities which London presents is staggering
Why did you decide to apply to study at City?
I chose to study at City, University of London, because of the promise and potential which my degree offered, as well as the opportunity to live and learn in one of the biggest and most formidable cities in the world.
What were the most important resources in helping you to make a decision?
In terms of helping me to decide to study at City, the resources provided for my degree allowed me to understand what I would be taught, whilst providing me with the skills and attributes required to become a successful employee. Additionally, the advice from my parents about living in the city and immersing myself in different cultures encouraged me to study at City.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
Because of the location of City, the university allows you to immerse yourself into surroundings which challenge you, and encourage you to develop as a person and a student. The resources of the university, including the library, have allowed me to reach my potential.
What experience have you had that will help you with future careers?
My degree has encouraged me to actively look for work experience and placements, to which I have gained through working in restaurants, art galleries, and book publishers. These various experiences have equipped me with the knowledge and capabilities required to work individually, as a team, and doing so under pressure. The university consistently arranges talks with writers and business owners/workers, along with workshops regarding CV’s and careers, that are both insightful and intriguing.
What is your favourite thing about living in London?
The volume and variety of activities which London presents is staggering. Having lived in three different areas of the city over my degree, London is always explorable, and I have found that although living in the city for three years, I have barely scratched the surface, in terms of discovering what London has to offer.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
After graduation, I intend to find an internship either within the publishing industry, journalism industry, or a form of content writing, and gain valuable work experience, whilst showcasing my skill set, and proving that I have the ability and desire to build a career for myself.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Be open to new experiences. Although they may seem daunting and challenging at first, having the courage to try something new allows you to build friendships, relationships, and experiences that you will never forget; something that living and studying in London will always provide.
