Overview
Dany is a research student with GiCentre, City, University of London, under the supervision of Dr. Radu Jianu and Dr. Aidan Slingsby. His research areas are geovisualisation and visual analytics. He is working closely with the industry, and in particular Advanced Infrastructure Technology Ltd., on utilising effective geovisualisation to tackle the issues of large geospatial data visualisation to support decision making related to energy networks, especially in alignment with the UK’s target for the Net Zero Strategy. He also investigates different techniques and their roles in cartography and geo-visualisation to encode multivariate geospatial data.
Prior to joining GiCentre as a research student, he was a researcher and lecturer in Geoinformatics and Geospatial Information Infrastructure, Department of Geodetic and Geomatics Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. His past research covers geospatial data acquisition, analysis and visualisation, including photogrammetry and remote sensing, 3D modeling using Structure from Motion, GIS analysis, 3D Cadastre, Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Architecture and Web-GIS developments. He also worked with governments and non-governmental agencies in Indonesia on some projects such as gamification and crowdsourcing of geospatial data using location-based Augmented Reality, spatial data mining from social media data, GIS software development and trainings.
