Vickesh studied for a degree in Mathematics and Finance at City, University of London, and graduated in 2013.
Why did you study at City?
I chose City, University of London because of its association with the Business School and reputation in the Mathematics field. The former has given me the opportunity to undertake a year in industry and I'm currently at America's largest Investment Bank - JPMorgan. The latter gave me a good basis to develop my mathematical knowledge which I took further by studying a Master's degree at Imperial College.
What was your favourite aspect/highlights of your course?
I would say the best part of my course was the opportunity to undertake a placement year and the variety of finance modules available to me from the Business School.
What was the highlight of your time at City, University of London?
The highlight of my time at City, University of London would be achieving a First Class Honours and building a basis to start a successful career. In addition, the people I met throughout my time at City, I still keep in contact with, as they are like minded people. Furthermore, the lecturers were very supportive when I needed any help.
How did City prepare you for your chosen career path?
Due to the association with the Business School, I had the opportunity to build contacts and apply to jobs which were strictly suited to my skills (of which one I managed to secure for a placement year). The structure of the course helped me to gain insight into what career I wanted to undertake. The guidance of the lecturers also helped me to understand my strongest and weakest points.
