About
Overview
Oleksiy is Lecturer in International Politics at City, University of London. He joined City in 2023, having previously taught at University of Warwick, University College London (UCL) and University of Kent, where he completed his PhD in 2022.
Oleksiy’s main research interests include informal institutions, elite networks, federalism and decentralization, and party politics in authoritarian regimes. Most of his work has focused on Eastern Europe, particularly Russia and Ukraine.
He is currently working on his first monograph, provisionally titled: Federal Bargaining in Russia and the Impact of Informal Institutions. The book is based on his PhD dissertation.
Oleksiy’s new project focuses on formal and informal incentives provided by the process of decentralization in Ukraine and its impact on local and regional political elites and patronal networks.
Oleksiy currently convenes three modules: IP1030 Introduction to Politics; IP1041 Introduction to Political and Economic Data Analysis; IP2038 Analyzing Political and Economic Data in the Real World.
