Overview
Currently Co-Investigator Lead of the research Indigenous Peoples responding to Covid-19 in Brazil: social arrangements in a Global Health emergency, funded by MRC/UKRI and NIRH. Between 2018 - 2020, she was Newton International Fellowship, awarded by Newton Fund/ British Academy/ Royal Society, and worked in a project entitled “Health policies and sociocultural diversity: a comparative study on childbirth services”. In Brazil, since 2014, Maria Paula is Professora Adjunta in Social Anthropology at Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre (UFCSPA) and Professora in the Postagraduate Program in Social Anthropology of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). There she teaches and conduct research projects. She also leads the Reseach Group Laboratório de Alteridades. Her key interests are Ethnography, Minorities collectives, personhood, body, midwifery and health understandings.
