During her university years, Francesca has always tried to do all sort of things regarding her field of interest:
research and rehabilitation inside detention facilities for adults and young people.
In those years Francesca has learned how to approach people with legal and psychological issues and she has developed a strong ability of teamwork.
In more recent years, Francesca has been dedicating herself to train mental health cares on how to Prevent and Manage Violence and Aggression in the ward environment along with Basic Life Support.
These experiences have given her the tools to better understand the mental health panorama in the UK with the aim of reducing restrictive practice, to allow service users to be more independent and empowered in line with the Mental Health Act.
Now, Francesca is involved in an exciting research on how communication impact on successful de-escalation in in-patient settings, which will be able to provide empirical evidence for staff training, and ultimately, reduce the use of restrictive practices.
